
It’s been so long ago since I last set foot at the Hermesvilla and the Lainzer Tiergarten as a whole. It looks so much different than before, and probably because it’s still spring and we are in a festive mood in celebration of a friend’s wedding. Prior the wedding itself, I was able to go around the palace grounds and take some photos – it’s May, the weather’s a bit unpredictable but I enjoyed the walk and talk with friends. We were worried that it might rain come wedding day, thank goodness it didn’t. The ceremony was lovely and we enjoyed the food and the dancing as well.
While it was a first time, I had the impression that weddings at the Hermesvilla offer a unique and romantic setting for couples looking to celebrate their special day. How to get to the Hermesvilla
You can visit the Hermesvilla and the Lainzer Tiergarten any day, it’s a cool area to spend hours in during summer. To get to Hermesvilla, follow these steps:
By car: If you prefer to drive, you can use a navigation system or follow road signs to reach the Lainzer Tiergarten. Hermesvilla is situated in the Lainzer Tiergarten, a large nature reserve on the outskirts of Vienna’s 13th district. The address for the Lainzer Tor entrance is Lainzer Tiergarten, Hermesstraße 4, 1130 Vienna.
By public transportation:
A. Get to U4 station Hietzing. Take Bus 56B going to Lainzer Tor, this is also the station where you’d get off as it’s the last station (16 stations in total) and takes 23 minutes.
B. Get to U3 station Westbahnhof. Take Tram line 60 going to Rodaun. Get off at the station Preyergasse and transfer to Bus 56B going to Lainzer Tor (get off this station). This trip takes a total of 37 minutes.
Entry to Hermesvilla: It is free to enter. Once you reach the Lainzer Tiergarten, you will need to enter through the Lainzer Tor entrance. From there, you can follow the signs or ask for directions to Hermesvilla. The villa is located within the park, you will have to walk to reach it, there are several paths you can take, one within a pathway of stones, two others paved with cement.
It’s always a good idea to check the opening hours and any visitor information before your visit.

Yes, it’s a little castle, the top photo is the main one and there are other buildings around. The main one holds a museum and big rooms for receptions.
