A group of Filipinos gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to its esteemed Consul General, Ivan Frank Olea, who has been an invaluable asset to the community. Over the years, Sir Olea has demonstrated dedication, humility, and a willingness to help and support the Filipino community in Austria, and the other countries serviced by the Philippine Permanent Mission in Vienna. It is but apt to celebrate his contributions and bid him goodbye in a manner befitting his service.
About the Consul: Ivan Frank Olea has been more than just a diplomatic representative; he has been a great supporter of his constituents. His tenure has been marked by numerous acts of kindness, efforts to promote Filipino traditions to third-culture kids, and a commitment to encourage. His humility and approachability have endeared him to many, making him a beloved figure in the community.
Sir Olea comes from a family of OFWs, his grandfather and father were OFWs in the 1960s and the 1970s, respectively. Having seen them undergone not-so-fond experiences inspired him to take the route of government service that helps Filipinos in such situations.
While the event was a very simple invitation, guests along with the Consul and his family, enjoyed the short evening.
- Welcome Reception: Guests were greeted with a warm welcome. Albeit not everyone came at the same time, greetings were in order for each and every guest.
- Dinner: A sumptuous Italian dinner, featuring a menu of classic dishes were served.
- Tributes and Speeches: Constituents, colleagues, and friends had the opportunity to share their memories and express their gratitude.
- Tokens of Appreciation: As a gesture of appreciation, special gifts were presented to the Consul. These tokens will serve as a reminder of the high regard and affection in which he is held and to remember Vienna, and Austria as well.
- Closing Remarks: The evening concluded with heartfelt thanks and best wishes for the Consul’s future endeavors and of course, lots of photos.

The choice of an Italian restaurant for this farewell dinner is somehow significant to the event.
Italian cuisine, known for its richness, warmth, and tradition, mirrors the qualities that Sir Olea has brought to his role. Just as Italian food brings people together in a spirit of sharing and enjoyment, so has Consul General Ivan Frank Olea brought Filipinos together through his service and supportive demeanor.
