Vienna, 15 September 2025 – The Filipino art community will be represented in Vienna through “Pagtitipon: A Filipino Arts Festival,” a two-part exhibition highlighting contemporary works by Filipino artists.
The exhibitions are jointly organized by the Bastedor Art Project (Manila) and sige! (Vienna), with the participation of artists from both Austria and the Philippines, particularly member of the Angono Ateliers association.
The first opening will take place on 15 September 2025, at 6PM, at the Publicartists Gallery, Mahlerstrasse 11, Vienna. The second opening will be held on 16 September 2025, at 5PM, at the United Nations Headquarters.

Pagtitipon
The term “Pagtitipon”—meaning gathering in Filipino—reflects the central theme of the festival: the bringing together of communities, cultures, and artistic practices. The participating artists will present works across different media, addressing questions of cultural identity, heritage, and dialogue across borders.
Among the exhibiting artists are:
-
Nemiranda (“Nemi” Miranda Jr.), a leading figure in Philippine contemporary art, known for his works on “imaginative figurism,” often depicting Philippine mythology, folklore, and rural life. Based in Angono, Rizal—regarded as the “Art Capital of the Philippines”—his contributions have been pivotal in shaping Filipino visual culture.
-
Ram Mallari Jr., a contemporary sculptor and mixed-media artist, recognized for his innovative use of recycled and industrial materials. His large-scale works often convey themes of resilience, transformation, and sustainability, aligning environmental consciousness with modern artistic expression.
-
Norlie Meimban, a visual artist acclaimed for his life-like, hyperrealist compositions. His works capture Filipino life and cultural narratives with striking color and detail, bridging realism and contemporary sensibilities.
