Seoul S2stars began with a Pop Ballad: Mamamoo’s Paint Me. The audience started turning their phones on flashlight mode as makeshift lightsticks and sang along (see below video). This year’s show was hosted by Jasmina and Phil. The K-Pop World Festival is a K-Pop theme dance and singing competition, which has been annually organized by South Korea’s Foreign Ministry in cooperation with the television station “KBS” since 2011. A handful of countries hold preliminary rounds to find their respective finalists where an expert jury in Korea then selects the candidates to take part in the grand finale in Changwon.
This year’s festival has also been organized by Mindeullae and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vienna and with the cooperation of the Wiener Stadthalle. After a rush of spectators last year, the organizers and the Stadthalle Vienna were able to negotiate an increased capacity for this year’s show. 축하해요 !
